This program has been developed to teach the basics of ringette to athletes between the ages of 7 to 9 years old. Throughout the week, as basics are grasped they will progress to more challenging drills and skills.
For 2017: this group is for athletes born in 2008 and 2009.
For full day camps, athletes will receive between 10 and 13 ice sessions* that focus on the following:
– Power skating techniques
– Skill development: introductory shooting, checking, and passing
– Rules of ringette
– Basics of each ringette position
– Defensive and offensive strategies
– Scrimmage time
*See specific location page for number of ice times provided.
When the athletes are off the ice they will participate in a variety of age-appropriate activites to help develop their athletic abilities and ringette skills. The activities will range from introductory fitness sessions, discussions about nutrition, strategy, rules and team building games.
On the ice, goaltenders will participate in drills with the whole group and will also get the chance to work individually with our top notch goalie instructor. Skill instruction will focus on a variety of skills: skating, basic stance, glove positioning, stick save, butterfly and agility. Goalies will participate in decision training drills and will also discover the keys to remaining flexible throughout the season.
Goalies will pay 50% of regular registration fees. Additionally, if you are interested in receiving a goalie cut jersey, please indicate the size in the “Additional Comments” section of your registration.
