For 2017, the birth years of participants accepted into the group varies between the locations of the camp. The Top Gun groups accepts players and goalies currently playing or likely to be playing AA and A in the upcoming season.
This year the Top Gun program is offered at:
Guelph – July 17 to 21
Ottawa 2 – July 17 to 21
Richmond Hill – August 14 to 18
Halifax 2 – August 21 to 25
Vernon – August 21 to 25
Top Gun camps are for athletes who are looking to reach the next competitive level of our sport. The instructors at the Top Gun camps are National Team members and athletes from the National Ringette League.
Top Gun camps feature 3 ice times per day and off-ice sessions which will focus on the following:
– power and agility skating instruction
– advanced ringette skills
– fitness and conditioning; which includes a take home breakdown of what was taught
– nutrition planning and education
– in-depth mental toughness training
The last ice session of each day will be a scrimmage where athletes have the opportunity to show off newly acquired skills.
On the ice, goaltenders will participate in drills with the whole group and will also get the chance to work individually with our top notch goalie instructor. Skill instruction will focus on a variety of skills: skating, basic stance, glove positioning, stick save, butterfly and agility. Goalies will participate in decision training drills and will also discover the keys to remaining flexible throughout the season.
If you are interested in receiving a goalie cut jersey, please indicate the size in the “Additional Comments” section of your registration.
Space is limited to 30 skaters and 4 goaltenders.
If you want to see either of these programs in a city near you, contact our office and let us know.
