This program has been developed to teach the basics of ringette to athletes between the ages of 6 to 9 years old.

Our program features 2 ice sessions per day that focus on the following:

- Power skating techniques

- Skill development

- Rules of ringette

- Basics of each ringette position

- Defensive and offensive strategies

- Teamwork

- Scrimmage time

- Fun

We also offer goalie specific training for this group. Click here to read more about it!

When the athletes are off the ice they will participate in a variety of age-appropriate activites to help develop their athletic abilities and ringette skills. The activities will range from off-ice shooting and fitness sessions to nutrition, strategy, rules and mental training classroom sessions.

9andUnder Policy

If your daughter is 9 years old at the time of camp, but will be playing U12 in the 2012-2012 season. Please register her in the 10 and Above group camp. If she is 9 years old and she is a very proficient player and you would like her to participate in the 10 and Above group, despite not playing U12 in the following season, please register her for 10 and Above, but make a note in the “Comments” section indicating that this was your intent.

Prior to camp…

We often receive requests to move athletes between groups. At times we are able to accommodate these types of requests, however we do require that you contact us at 403-284-5161 so that we can briefly discuss this. Once agreed upon we will provide you with further instructions on how to appropriately register your child.

Once camp has begun…

Transfer between groups once the camp has started MUST occur on the first day of camp. If you would like your child moved we ask that you communicate directly with the Site Manager. The Site Manager will be able to assess the situation and discuss with you the best option. The final decision rests with the Site Manager.

Please note: transfers between groups may not be possible.

The Ajax Coaches’ Clinic Instructors:

Terry Nosal

Terry started playing ringette when she was 10 years old and started coaching 12 years ago when her daughters started to play. Since then, her love and respect for the game has soared. Terry has coached from the Bunny level all the way to U19 AAA. She has been involved in many Provincial Championships and Nationals. Being able to coach the skills of the game is her passion. She always wants to teach players how to be better and desires to help people in their coaching roles as well. Being a player and a coach has been a real asset for Terry along with her experience in numerous levels of competition.

“You get the best effort from others not by lighting a fire beneath them, but by building a fire within.”

Scott Nosal

Scott’s story is no different than the many men who are involved in ringette. Both of his sisters played the game but his real interest started when he signed his daughters up to play. After a year of being a parent, Scott desired to assist in coaching the game alongside his wife Terry. Over the next few years, his knowledge and understanding of the game grew and soon he was head coaching at the highest level of the game. Scott is a great communicator and strategist and his experience in the game has been demonstrated in the success of the teams he has coached.

Both Scott and Terry continue to improve on their coaching through courses, networking and studying the game. They bring a great deal of knowledge and wisdom to the bench from the experience they have gained over the past 12 years.

“Individual glory is insignificant when compared to achieving victory as a team. That is what I love about ringette!”

Jody Nouwen

Jody, has lived and loved the game of ringette for over 25 years. She is a six time national champion, played in the Finnish Elite League and for Team USA at two world championships (2000 and 2010). She has coached Junior and Belle AA and has been a Ringette Canada High Performance committee member and a Ringette Alberta course conductor. She is a director and owner of the National Ringette School.

“There are some things you do that you just do, but, there are some things you do that become a part of you. I will always be a Ringette player.”

Who are the instructors of the National Ringette School?

We have a large pool of amazingly talented instructors. Their expertise and love for ringette is what makes our camps truly successful. This fabulous list is coming soon! Click here to meet a few!

Is there a program tailored to goalies?

We do offer goalie training at each of our camps. There will be a goalie instructor on the ice with each group to provide goalie specific feedback and exercises to these athletes. We do keep the goalies with the players throughout their ice times as we believe it is important for them to be challenged by their peers throughout many of the exercises. To read more click here.

How many ice times a day will my child get?

In general, participants in the 9 and Under group will be on the ice twice a day; the 10 and Above group will be on the ice twice a day on Monday, Wednesday and Friday; and three times Tuesday and Thursday; the Top Gun group is on the ice 3 times a day. The exception to this are 4-day camps.

Will there be someone to help them get dressed for their ice times?

There will be a minimum of two instructors present to help the participants get ready for their ice times. They will help in a variety of ways, including tying skates, snapping on helmets and teaching the athletes the “buddy system” which encourages helping one another!

What will the athletes be taught on the ice?

We have a full page of information regarding what each group will be taught. Click here to read all the information.

What will they be doing when they are not on the ice?

When the participants are not on the ice they will be involved in numerous activities that will benefit them in their ringette development. These activities include: off-ice shooting (and goalie development for the goaltenders), fitness circuits, team building activities, nutrition activities, rules and strategy development sessions and cooperative games.

Are boys allowed to attend the camp?

Yes!

Will the boys at camp be changing in the same dressing room as the girls?

No. We will make necessary changes to allow for seperate changing space for boys and girls.

Are there tournaments this year?

We are not running HotShot Tournaments this year. However, we are offering a 3 on 3 Tournament in Calgary.

What is a 3 on 3 Tournament?

The focus of the National Ringette School’s 3 on 3 Tournaments is for the participants to have the opportunity to play with new people from various locations and age groups. Registrants MUST have played a year of Tween. Each participant will have the opportunity to play in a minimum of six, 35-minute games, over two days. Participants register on an individual basis and are then placed on teams by the Tournament Director. Click here to learn more.

Can I pay by cheque?

We are no longer accepting cheques.

Can I pay by installments?

Yes! We have a 3 payment plan system in place that can work for credit card payments. To read more on our Payment Plan click here.

Is there a discount if I register more than one child?

We offer a 10% family discount for families that register 3 or more children.

Is there after-care for my child if I cannot pick her/him up on time?

Unfortunately, we cannot offer after-care at our camps. Therefore, we do require that you make the necessary arrangements to pick your child up at their designated pick-up time.

This camp is currently available only at the Calgary Trico Centre (FLC) and Winnipeg Gateway.

This morning half-day camp (approx. 8:00am to 12:00pm) is geared towards developing a love for ringette through fun-based instruction with a variety of games. Athletes between the ages of 5 to 9 years old, new, or relatively new, to ringette are encouraged to sign up for this camp!

No ringette experience necessary. However, we recommend that the participants be able to move around on the ice as this will allow for maximum enjoyment.

This program includes 1 ice session per day that focuses on the following:

- Power skating techniques

- Basic skill development

- Rules of ringette

- Basics of each ringette position

- Teamwork

- Scrimmage time

- Fun

When the participants are off the ice they will partake in a variety of activities which will help them learn the rules of ringette, build teamwork and develop friendships in a fun environment.
